The son of ET Brisson, charter member of the detachment, built the Iwo Jima memorial in 1977. When built it was intended for a one-time parade appearance.
By 2009, the original float was in need of extensive repairs.
In 2010 the monument underwent a major refurbishing and was better than new. February 2014, a trailer was purchased and the monument was transferred from the truck bed to the trailer for easier transporting.
February 2014 was time for another updating of the USMC icon.
Member Jack Mehaffey sponsored a new trailer for the monument and after weeks of dedicated members working on the project......
the new ET Brisson Detachment Iwo Jima “Traveling” Memorial was dedicated Feb 25, 2014 with Iwo Jima survivor, Harold “Pappy” Wagner in attendance.
A brief ceremony was held at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Don Treglown blessing the Traveling Memorial.
